Preschool is a child’s first step into the big world. And for parents, there is nothing more important than seeing their child happy, calm, and confident among other children. But what exactly provides this inner foundation? At Montessori Hub, we don’t force a child into rigid frameworks. Instead, we gently build an environment where they can grow at their own pace and make new friends. In this process, adaptation becomes not a trial, but a soft start of a great journey.
A Personal Meeting Before the Start
The phase-in process begins even before the child’s first day. Each family comes for an individual meeting, where the child, in a calm setting, gets to know the team, explores the space, and touches the materials. The student becomes familiar with new faces and the atmosphere, while parents discuss their child’s unique traits and their own expectations with the teacher. This meeting eases the initial fear of the unknown.
Gradually Increasing Time in the Classroom
Children don’t necessarily have to stay for a full day from the very first time. In the Montessori approach, the time spent at school increases gradually: 30 minutes, one hour, then several hours. The child has the opportunity to adjust to a new rhythm and a changed environment. Slowly and naturally, they begin to feel that the classroom is a safe place, where interesting materials and friends await.
Parents Stay as Long as They Need
One of the key differences of adaptation at Montessori Hub is that a parent may stay at preschool for as long as they feel is necessary. Moms and dads often work in our lobby while their child is settling in. The student can step out to "check on" their parents and then return to the classroom, knowing that their family is nearby and they are safe. When the time comes to let go, it happens naturally.
Transparency Throughout the Day
Separation from a child, even for just a few hours, is unfamiliar for parents as well. That’s why every day the teacher shares how the child’s day was in-person, and families receive updates through our online system: photos, videos, and short notes.
An Individual Approach to Every Child
We regularly prepare progress reports and personalized development plans. We take everything into account: sleep patterns, eating habits, favorite activities, and the pace at which the child feels comfortable learning new things.
Adaptation to preschool is not about rushing events or testing endurance. It is a gradual and natural entry into a new environment, where everyone has their own rhythm, unique qualities and victories. We build this process carefully to ensure calm and confidence. A child’s first experience of separation from their parents sets the tone for their entire future relationship with preschool, learning, and new social situations. At Montessori Hub, we want this experience to be a warm one — for the child and for their family.
